The main question of my learning process is: What is good teaching
like?
“Mrs Plank hates me because I’m not moving forward in arithmetic, [...], that’s what she said to my own mother. I’m sitting in my seat wondering why why why all the time, I am. And there are no answers in arithmetic either, in addition to no whys. The only answer they can give you is IT JUST IS, THAT’S WHY and then they go back to yelling this junk at you they can’t explain, that’s it, [...], they can’t explain it so they yell at us.”
Todd McEven (1999) Arithmetic (51-52)
...and I really hope the students would not leave from my lessons as confused as that little boy in McEven's novel.
